As the Child Crisis Center enters its thirtieth year of service to the community we are humbled by the outpouring of community support we have received from so many entities and individuals without whom we could not have sustained and grown to become the organization we are today.

The Child Crisis Center is more than just a local charity to the people of the greater Phoenix area and Mesa, Arizona. It has been safety, encouragement, and home to over 12,000 children since it opened its doors in 1981. The Center began as a 7-bed emergency shelter for abused or neglected children and has grown into an organization that brightens thousands of futures a year.

Our Mission: Strong Families, Safe Kids
The Child Crisis Center is committed to preventing child abuse and neglect. We accomplish this by supporting and strengthening families through education and intervention, by providing a safe environment for children to heal, and by recruiting, training and supporting foster and adoptive families.

A dedication to service...
Christine Scarpati is the founding Executive Director & CEO of the Child Crisis Center. A great visionary, Christine Scarpati has worked to grow the Child Crisis Center from a small, 7 bed emergency shelter to a thriving organization that tackles child abuse and neglect prevention and treatment. Two former Arizona Govenors, Govenor Janet Napolitano and Governor Jane Hull, issued a proclamation in recognition of Christine's advocacy for children and efforts on behalf of the Child Abuse Prevention License Plate legislation. Over the past 29 years, Christine Scarpati has earned many awards and recognitions of her dedication. Some include: Woman of the Year (1983 ), "Champion of Children" award from Children's Action Alliance (2000 ), "Hope for Arizona's Children" award from the State Child Abuse Prevention Conference (2004 ), Nonprofit Executive Director of the Year (2002 ), Special Recognition from the Office of the Governer (2007 ), and the Excellence in Leadership Award, presented by East Valley Partnership and Cox Communications (2005 ).
